An increasingly large number of Canadian youth, including post-secondary students, feel connected to the world and are concerned citizens, consumers, volunteers, educators, and globe-trotters. These concerned youth are in a unique position to help create change so that Canada steps up its role as a global partner by:
providing more and better (development) aid to developing countries;
cancelling their debts so that they can invest in key social programs (e.g. education and health);
giving them fair access to global markets so that they strengthen their national economies;
giving them access to affordable essential drugs so that they can care for the sick.
What are its goals?
This workshop seeks to deepen student leaders' understanding of the Millennium Development Goals and the specific role of Canada in achieving them. A further important aim is to equip these leaders with the skills and arguments to champion Canada's role in achieving the MDGs to their peers, the media, and decision-makers.
